My old faithful - Canon EOS 888

My first camera - Canon EOS 888

This was my first real camera.  I was on a business trip in Singapore and looking around for a camera.  When I bought the camera, it wasn't really for the kind of photography that I want to do now, but more to capture photos of my first child growing up.  I am unable to recall exactly when I bought the camera, but it was in the mid nineties.  In fact, I don't even recall how much I paid for it.

The 888 did its job well.  The photographs I took with that camera were crisp and clear.  Every once in a while, I did get creative and shot some really nice photos.  You can check them out at Stolen Moments as well as my Picasa gallery (coming soon).

However, after a few years, I kind of lost interest in taking photos.  Also, the latch on the camera's film bay broke, so I was not able to use it.  I never did send it for repairs so the camera had been sitting in the house collecting dust for a few years.

The camera bay cannot be closed due to the broken latch

Now that I'd gotten a new dSLR, the popular Canon EOS 450D, or Rebel XSi as it is known in North America, I thought I'd show off the 888 one final time before I put it away for good in the dark depths of the store room in my house.

More damage on the inside.
